Transform your relationship in just a few days
Couples Intensives in St. George
Feel like your relationship is stuck in a rut?
Imagine the frustration of having the same argument repeatedly, feeling like you’re running in circles with no end in sight. You try to communicate, but it seems like your words never quite reach your partner, as if you’re speaking different languages. The emotional distance grows, and moments of connection feel fleeting, like trying to grasp smoke.
You’re both exhausted from the constant misunderstandings and the silent treatments that follow. It feels as though a wall has been built between you, one that gets higher and thicker with each unresolved conflict. The usual methods of reconnecting—date nights, weekend getaways, or weekly therapy sessions—just aren’t cutting through the tension anymore.
In this space of disconnection, you yearn for a deeper, more immediate intervention. You need a space where both of you can dive deep, confront the underlying issues head-on, and rebuild your relationship with focused, intensive effort. This is why you’re considering a couples intensive, hoping for a breakthrough that traditional therapy hasn’t yet provided.
What are couple intensives?
An intensive is like hitting the reset button on your relationship. Instead of weekly sessions spread out over months, you and your partner will spend several hours, often over a few consecutive days, working closely with a therapist. This concentrated time allows you to dive deep into your issues, understand each other on a deeper level, and start making real changes quickly.
During an intensive, you can expect a mix of guided conversations, exercises, and activities designed to help you both open up and connect. The therapist will be there to support and guide you, helping you navigate difficult emotions and communication patterns. It’s a focused, immersive experience aimed at creating breakthroughs and fostering a stronger, healthier relationship.
Couples intensives can help you break through persistent conflicts, rebuild emotional connection, and achieve significant progress in your relationship quickly.
How it works…
1. Initial Consultation
Before beginning the intensive, we will conduct an initial consultation to understand your specific relationship challenges and goals. This session helps tailor the intensive to address your unique needs.
2. Pre-Intensive Preparation
To ensure you are fully prepared, we recommend creating a “retreat” experience by booking a hotel or vacation rental. This relaxed environment allows you to unwind and let the therapy work sink in. Additionally, you should read or listen to “Hold Me Tight” or “Love Sense” by Dr. Susan Johnson to familiarize yourself with the concepts we’ll explore. Attending a Lasting Connection® workshop with a certified facilitator can also provide a shared framework for attachment and emotion processing.
3. The Intensive Schedule
The intensive spans three consecutive weekdays and includes the following sessions:
Day 1:
Morning Session: 2 – 2.5 hours (Assessment)
Afternoon Session: 2 hours
Day 2:
Morning Session: 2 hours
Afternoon Session: 1.5 hours
Day 3:
Morning Session: 2 hours
Afternoon Session: 1.5 hours
This schedule is equivalent to approximately six months of weekly therapy, allowing for deep and sustained work over a short period.
4. Post-Intensive Support
Following the intensive, it is crucial to have a follow-up plan in place. Justin will help you set up ongoing therapy or support to integrate and maintain the progress made during the intensive. You may also choose to return for mini-intensives to continue bolstering your connection and growth.
5. On-Call Support
Justin will be on-call as needed throughout the intensive, providing additional support and guidance to ensure you get the most out of the experience.
6. Location
The intensive sessions are held in scenic St. George, Utah, a beautiful vacation destination surrounded by red rock cliffs and near multiple state and national parks. This setting provides a peaceful and inspiring backdrop for your intensive work.
7. Cost
The cost for the intensive is $2,500. While this may seem like a significant investment, consider the value of saving, improving, strengthening, or healing your marriage and family. Investing in your relationship now can prevent far greater financial and emotional costs in the future.
By following these steps and recommendations, I ensure that your couples intensive is a comprehensive and transformative experience, leading to meaningful and lasting improvements in your relationship
Why do intensives work?
1. Dedicated Time with Your Partner
One of the key features of an intensive is the extended, uninterrupted time you and your partner spend together. This dedicated time allows you to focus solely on each other without the distractions of daily life. It creates a safe space for you to explore your relationship in depth and make meaningful progress.
2. Deeper Work
Intensives enable you to dive deep into the core issues of your relationship. Unlike traditional therapy, where sessions are spread out over weeks or months, the concentrated format allows us to address complex issues thoroughly and efficiently. This deeper work fosters a more profound understanding and connection between you and your partner.
3. Immediate Feedback and Application
The intensive format allows for immediate feedback and application of new skills. As you work through exercises and conversations, the therapist is there to guide you, offer insights, and help you apply what you’ve learned in real-time. This hands-on approach reinforces new behaviors and communication patterns more effectively.
4. Customized Experience
Each intensive is tailored to the unique needs of your relationship. We focus on your specific challenges and goals, ensuring that the sessions are highly relevant and impactful. This personalized approach maximizes the benefits and ensures that the intensive is directly addressing the areas where you need the most support.
5. Accelerated Progress
The immersive nature of an intensive allows for accelerated progress. What might take months to achieve in traditional therapy can often be accomplished in just a few days. This fast-tracks your journey towards healing and connection, providing a jumpstart to lasting change in your relationship.
6. Strengthening Commitment
The intensive model helps reinforce your commitment to each other and to the process of improving your relationship. The time and effort invested in the intensive demonstrate a mutual dedication to making things work, which can strengthen your bond and resolve.
By harnessing these features, couples intensives provide a powerful and effective way to address deep-seated issues, build stronger connections, and create lasting positive changes in your relationship.
